What Causes Nausea And Black Outs In The Vision?

My sister is 70 years old and just recently had the 3rd episode like this in the past 2years. She suddenly gets kind of nausous and totally blacks out. She doesn t collapse but her head drops and her eyes close and she is unresponsive. Her blood pressure drops very very low and her EKG is not normal. She comes out of it slowly and in an hour everything is back to normal.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that she is having an arrhythmia which is an abnormal rate or rhythm of the heart. If the heart rate or rhythm is significantly abnormal, it can affect the blood flow to the brain which can then lead to altered consciousness and affect blood pressure.

She may want to consider seeing a cardiologist for assessment and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
