General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many possible causes of abdominal pain and nausea.
Most of the time a self limiting condition like a stomach flu is the cause and it should be better in a few days. He needs to take fluids and food in frequent small amounts and make sure he rests.

Some omeorazole can be tried and also some buscopan to help relieve the pain. Local warm compresses can be used. If no improvement with these measures in 2-3 days or if there is any worsening he will need to see a doctor.

If he is having these symptoms and not being able to pass gas or stools he needs to see a doctor to make sure it is not something due to bowel obstruction. Also if he has not removed the appendix and the pain starts to go on the lower right abdomen it is good to see the doctor to rule out problems with apendicitis. Sometimes the gallbladder can be the cause of the pain especially if pain is worse after eating.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
