What Causes Nausea After Knee Reconstruction Surgery?

I had knee reconstruction surgery one month ago. The surgery is successful, but I have been constantly nauseous since. I have an infection over the surgery site - redness, heat, swelling - and my GP has put me on a 2-week course of flucloxacillin. Unfortunately, this is exacerbating the nausea. Even tho I am also taking cyclizine to combat this, I am constantly miserable and unable to function normally even for one complete day. Is there a way out of this?

Hello,

As a first line management, you can take an antacid-antiemetic combination like pantoprazole-domperidone for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
