What Causes Nausea After Having Grapefruit?

I have recently adopted grapefruits into my diet. The article suggested 1/2 or 1 cup of grapefruit juice before each meal. I have been faithful to this advice for about one month. Suddenly one morning at 6am I had to throw-up a lot. What ever was lingering in my tummy came up. The following two days I experienced the kind of diarrhea that is pure liquid throughout the day. I quit the grapefruit juice as soon as these signs developed. Those symptoms went away, but I have had a low-grade fever for about four days: When I eat a meal, my fever increases. As of now, the only symptom I have is the fever. Should I seek a doctor s advice now? Do you think that grapefruits could be the culprit?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be due to gastroenteritis due to contaminated grapes. Consult a physician and start on antibiotics. Take soft liquid diet and withhold grapes for few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
