What Causes Nasal Congestion And Coughing Along With Low Grade Fever?

I am having severe nasal congestion and coughing. I believe it is a bad cold, however, much of the mucus is yellow. I m reluctant to take an antibiotic if it s not a sinus infection, which I haven t had for years. I m also running a low grade fever and have had severe night sweats.

Hello,

Nasal congestion & coughing with low-grade fever commonly is a symptom of upper respiratory tract infection & allergy(pollen, dust, pollution, etc).

Yellow mucus is a sign of bacterial infection & hence you are having a fever. You are suggested to get clinically assessed.

You need a course of antibiotics(doxy /amoxy), antihistamines & acetaminophen for relieve. Take medicines under your treating doctor. Use warm saline water to gargle 3-4 times a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
