What Causes Muscle Tightness In The Calf?

I have muscle tightness in my midcalf. Its hard to describe, it feels like a knot when I walk but I dont feel anything when I massage it. Within the past day or so a numbness has started in my toes which has now traveled to the point on my midcalf where the knot is. It got significantly worse when I laid down to go to sleep tonight.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you are having symptoms in one leg only then you should consider seeing your doctor to rule out a blood clot in the leg.

The other causes of unilateral pain (one sided) are trauma , infection, varicose veins, peripheral vascular disease (blockage in the arteries of the leg).

It would be best to be seen. This would involve physical examination and depending on findings, investigations such a a doppler to look for a clot, may be needed.

I hope this helps
