Muscle spasms can be very painful in some persons so it is understandable to be concerned.
There are different possible causes and you would need to be seen by your doctor for a definitive cause to be found. Some of the more common reasons are:
(1) excess or abnormal muscle use,
(2) dehydration,
(3) abnormal level of electrolytes- calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium,
(4) trauma, and
(5) a side effect of the medication.
It would be best to be seen if the cramps continue or worsen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
