What Causes Muscle Spasms In The Neck And Headache?

Three days of muscle spasm pain in left rear neck area just below hairline accompanied by dull headache. No noticeable fever. Pain increases with movement of head in rotation or side to side motion. Difficult to find good sleep position. Sharp pain is lessened when I am standing or sitting up but is still a dull ache.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms could be due to cervical muscle spasm, and nerve compression. I would suggest to consult the orthopedics and undergo clinical examination, x-ray and MRI if needed.

Doctor will give following advises:

- Tablet Etoricoxib + Thiocolchicoside

- Tablet Pregabalin

- Tablet Ranitidine

- Application of Diclofenac (Volini) gel twice daily

- Warm pad application

Also, neck exercise according to physiotherapist will be helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
