What Causes Mood Swings And Acne While On Implanon Implant?

Hello. My daughter had the Neplaxanon implant inserted 2 weeks ago. She appears to me to be presenting mood swings and increased acne. She is also on 100mg Zoloft. Is Neplaxonon a sensible form of birth control for her? She has irregular and unpleasant periods, hence her decision to try Neplaxanon, which I can understand. Two years ago she had tried Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo with disastrous results: heavy, unceasing periods, cramps. I am at a bit of a loss as to how to advise her.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think it is a good choice for her to use the nexplanon implant. The mood swings she is having may also be related to that but most probably they are related to the main psychological issue she is having for which she is using Zoloft. Possibly the dosage of Zoloft may be increased to pass these symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
