What Causes Mood Swings After Chantix Discontinuation?

my boyfriend was prescribed Chantix to help him quit smoking. He does not take it as prescribed. He often skips a dose. He seems to be having awful mood swings. He is very agitated. Is this a possible side effect from not taking the medication correctly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Treatment started for quit smoking should be taken regularly. if doses missed, it doesn't have any withdrawn effects. but withdrawal effects specially mood swings due to smoking cessation.

It may pay up to 15 days to 1 month max. no need to worry much. Try to engage in work and do holiday trips. I hope this will help you and don't forget to rate my answer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
