General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

- There are a number of causes for pain in the flank and the hip.
- Kidney stones: These can cause pain in the region. Drink plenty of fluids. If it persists, have an ultrasound done to evaluate the size of the stone.
- Alternatively it could be a problem of the hip joint. I would suggest an X-ray / CT scan of the hip. It could be arthritis/avascular necrosis of the hip joint.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
