What Causes Mild Pain In Left Wrist Radiating Into The Hand?

Hi, I have dull aching pain (that hurts) in my left wrist which is radiating into my hand. It s not bothering my fingers, but it is also hurting in the palm of my hand as well as the wrist. I can think of no apparent injury. I did go swimming recently and I don t often do that, but cannot recall hurting myself then or anytime recently. I can t think of any repeat movements that I am doing with my left hand as I am right handed, I am a heavy smoker. I am under stress, it almost feels like my blood vessels are constricted. I was able to see my veins clearly moving up and down in that wrist but not in the right. I don t see brusing but a very slight bluish discoloration in the palm of the hand and the wrist.

Hi dear user. Thanks for using HCM service

Some lesions in the hand are related to some movements, like repetitive movements. You say that you're right handed. But you have to take in count your actual stress situation. And see how you're sleeping. You should ask yourself the following questions:
1. Do you put your hand under your head while sleeping?
2. Do you sleep on your stomach?
3. Do you feel cervical Pain, or shoulder pain?
4. Do you feel muscular tension in your arms?
5. Do you feel pain when touching your wrist with pressure?

If you you answer yes yes almost everything you could have the following diagnosis:

1 Cervicobrachialgia which can influence in your arm Arm and wrist. Because the nerves which transmit sensation and movement to arms and hands, they all born in cervical.
2. Tendinitis in your common extensor group
3. Tendinitis in your common flexor group

In those cases the treatment is:

1. Analgesic ibuprofen, or diclofenac pills 50 MG every eight hours
2. Ticolchicosido pills 4 MG every eight hours. It can cause diarrhea in some patients. It is normal. Because it Is a medicine which relax muscles.
3. Local ice in the area. Don't put ice directly, cover it with a cloth. And put during fifteen minutes. Rest ten minutes, and and repite fifteen minutes more. And do it every eight hours.
4.change position to sleep and sleep on your back or side (no the left one).

If symptoms keep you should visit a physiathrist doctor. Or a specialist in trauma.

Hope to be helpful with your problem.
