What Causes Mild Abdominal Pain And Discomfort Post Colonoscopy Procedure?

I had a colonoscopy on Thursday, 4 going on 5 days ago....my abdomen still feels weird. Start out feeling ok in the morning, but in doing anything, cooking, cleaning standing, I start to get soo bloated and have an uncomfortable heaviness in my abdomen?? No real pain, just a dull ache and heaviness. No bleeding at all...terrible cramps 2 days after, but nothing since. And some bouts of lightheadedness??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think this discomfort and bloating you are having may be related to air that can be put on intestines due to colonoscopy. I believe also that trauma during this procedure may be still felt.

I think you may need to take simethicone to help with excessive gas on abdomen. Try to eat regularly to start the functions of the bowel normally.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
