Hello,

If you have a severe headache which is accompanied by nausea/vomiting, sensitivity to lights and sounds (photo and phonophobia), vertigo (spinning sensations) and if all these symptoms and pounding or throbbing headache lasting at least 4 hrs or more are all present BEFORE going out into the heat and sun.

THEN, clearly, you may benefit from specific MIGRAINE HEADACHE treatment.

However, if all these symptoms of the headache are coming on upon being exposed to the intense heat, labor, bright sunlight, etc. then, it could be that the headache IS SECONDARY to those extreme climate conditions and therefore, the treatment would be to get out of the sun or at least protect/shield your head from that sun and so forth by using adequate headwear.

If you are unable to hold water down due to extensive vomiting and you are working a laborious job then, you may need IV hydration as soon as possible.

But, in any event, Please see a headache specialist for this problem as there are still a number of questions that need to be answered before being certain of exactly what your best course action should be.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
