What Causes Metallic Taste In Mouth With Difficult Swallowing?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... hi over the last 4 days ive had issues with swallowing. if i swallow syliva it feels like its stuck in my throat or coming back up my throat. i get a pain in my stomach and then a release of metalic taste in my mouth. then i get dry mouth and my lips look white colour. sometimes when i swallow food i get a gurgling noise in my throat. Any ideas? thanks

Hi,

Feeling of saliva getting stuck in throat and coming back up your throat, pain in stomach, release of metallic taste in mouth and then dry mouth with white lips indicate some reasons. There seems to be a basic reason of GERD that is gastro-esophageal reflux disease. There is regurge of stomach contents and acid in esophagus and throat. This may give that typical taste in mouth as the stomach contents tastes. As reactive action of acid from stomach the mouth gets dry.

The irritation caused in throat causes swelling and inco-ordination in throat muscles giving you the feeling of saliva stuck in throat or regurge. I would advise you the following:
* Take a PPI like Omeprazole
* Antacid when on empty stomach
* Prescription based Domperidone as motility regulator
* Avoid stress and anxiety, the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the symptoms
