What Causes Lung And Diaphragm Pain While Coughing And Sneezing?

Hi Dr. Rynne. I just recently went through flu like symptoms (lots of coughing, sneezing, extreme fatigue, extreme headache) and now my lungs and diaphragm hurts when I would cough or sneeze ever so lightly that now I am afraid to do so. Along with this I developed a low fever (99-101). Did I develop a secondary infection?

Hi thanks for asking question...

Here you have coughing , sneezing like symptoms suggest viral respiratory infection ...So it can lead chest and muscular pain as constitutional symptom.

But noted you have fever. So chest x ray done for any consolidation suggest pneumonia.Such severe pain might be from pneumonia its complication like pleural effusion..Antibiotic need for it.
So rule out secondary bacterial infection also..

If above cause not present then it might be musculosketal pain by unaccoustemed activity or costochondritis.Rest and analgesic treatment for it.

I hope your concern solved.
