What Causes Lump In The Breast With Recurring Pain?

Dear Doctor,

I will appreciate your help. I have terrible pain on my right breast. This problem began when I was 16 years old and I am 34 years old now. I told my parents when I was young but they felt the problem will go (they believed in prayer). It started as a lump, which disappeared. As I got older, I was very scared to seek medical attention as I thought its too late if its cancer. Thank God I am still alive. The pain comes and goes. Sometimes it throbs, especially when I am stressed. I have also gained a lot of weight which doesnt help. Otherwise, I am strong, I can run and my concentration is ok. I will be grateful for your thoughts. Many thanks.

Welcome to healkthcaremagic.com. This sounds like post menstrual changes that occur monthly. You did not tell us what the time frame is when is recurs. At Age 35 your OB doctor will become concerned and maybe have and ultrasound and /or mammogram done, but you are right, after all this time I doubt that it is of major concern. If you have not seeked medical care it wold be a wise thing to do at least with an OB/GYN doctor. I hope this helps. Good luck
