What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain, Fever And Gastritis?

Hi Dr. I have been having sever gas pains constantly from my lower left side below my stomach. I constantly expel gas. Not only do I expel gas constantly, the smell is horrible! I had a colonoscopy a few months ago. The next day the Dr. called me apologizing that the machine he used was not cleaned properly and to let him know if I develop a fever if my problem gets worse. After that phone call, I never went back. Six months later, the pain is severe and I am constantly expelling gas. I m at the end of my rope and have tried everything there is to relieve the gas. If I drink hot water, that used to help. Now nothing helps and I don t have the urge to eat anymore. Any suggestions?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you son have symptoms of lower abdominal pain, fever and gastritis . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like indigestion, IBS, appendicitis , ulcers or UTI. But in your case the symptoms are probably due to viral infection. I would suggest you to to eat light and take small and frequent meals , take non spicy food and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen or pain. Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ultrasound, endoscopy and stool test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe omeprazole , ornidazole , laxative or anaspas. Doctor may also refer you to urologist for UTI problem. Do not eat food products that can cause gas like dairy products and broccoli . Take paracetamol for fever and pain.
