What Causes Low White Blood Count In Blood?

Cbc tests are low: wbc 3.7, hemoglobin 11.3, hematocrit 34.6, mch 26.9, anc 1336, iron 71, b12 593, folate 22.1. I feel great. Bone marrow biopsy was fine in 2004. I have a had low hemoglobin several times in the 20 years. Should I be concerned about low white blood count? I am 54, female. Results from annual cbc test.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
You have not described why bone marrow biopsy were done. I think it was to evaluate the cause of low hb or anemia. So there is no evidence of anemia now.
You have mild leukopenia at present as having 3700. There are a lot of causes of leukopenia including pathological causes and drug induced. You have not mentioned whether you are taking any medications chronically. Some antipsychotic, antibiotics, anticonvulsant, chemotherapy drugs may cause this problems. Pathological conditions include myelofibrosis, aplastic anemia, SLE most commonly.
As there is mild leukopenia and you are asymptomatic its recommended to monitor your
WBC level whether it drops of being normal. Its necessary to conduct a differential count to asses the subtypes of WBCs which are falling. If you are taking some medications may cause this please stop it and swich to another group as most of the drug induced leukopenia are reversible.
