Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Low Heart Rate And Excessive Weight Loss?
Prior to November my resting heart rate was between 68-71, since then after every meal it drops to mid 50 s to 60, and now my resting heart rate is 52-53. I have not increased exercising and have fullness/bloated belly. It also is dropping into the mid to upper forties when I sleep and my body wakes me out of deep sleep during this drop. I have lost 22 pounds also during this time.
Heart rate may normally be 50 bpm in healthy athletes. Howe'ver if you have a feeling of discomfort with it, it always need evaluation. Your weight loss of 12 l also needs consideration.
I personally understand you should be seen urgently by your doctor to check your pulse and heart and to get a heart tape done to see for reasons of a low rate. An echo is also important. So it's vital that you see your doctor for proper assessment and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
General & Family Physician
