What Causes Low Grade Fever And Swelling In The Right Ear?

I have been running a low grade fever 99 it has gotten to 100 the last day or so I don t have anything bothering me except that behind my right ear there is some swelling and some bumps that itch real bad and also it is I real tender in that spot. don t know if I might have been bitten by a bug or what. I m 69 yrs. old and in fair health.
