What Causes Loss Of Voice And Green Phlegm?

Hi, I have woken up the past 3 days with a sore throat, the pain has also been in my ears a little, but by the afternoon the pain is gone. However, yesterday, I woke up to much less pain but a weird sounding voice. As the day went on, I lost my voice completely. Today I still have no voice, and am now coughing up bright green mucus. I have no other cold symptoms. What could this be?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that you have got a viral infection leading to loss of voice known as Laryngitis along with coughing mucous..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a he can do a laryngoscopy and sputum culture to rule out the exact cause of problem and treat you accordingly..
You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, mucolytics like Ambroxol, anti allergics like Benadryl..
Do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
You can also sip on warm water throughout the day as it will help in relieving throat and improve voice..
Suck throat lozenges and chew vitamin C pellets..
Do not strain your vocal cords by trying to speak with applying force..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
