What Causes Loss Of Hair After Hitting The Head?

My 4 year old son fell and bumped his head a couple of weeks ago. The swelling on back of his head has went down some but now the hair on the bump on his head fell out. It doesn t look like its growing back. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Welcome to HCM

Your son has lost his hair on that particular site where he was hit.
This condition is called as Alopecia aerata.

Usually it will take time for growth of hair in that particular area. If at all he develops a scar, regrowth of hair on the scar site alone is questionable, but it will be usually covered by hair growth in the surrounding area.
You can apply hydrocortisone cream on that particular site, which will give a better outcome.
