What Causes Loose Motion In A Child While Taking Clavam?

My 1yr 3months old kid was having fever, cough and throat infection. Clavam bid dry syrup along with tixylix, sinarest and calpol was prescribed by her pediatrician. she had 3 dosages of clavam till now. she had started loose motion. is it a side effect of the medicine or should it be given extra concern

This is a side effect of antibiotic clavam. This is what we call antibiotics associated diarrhea. The antibiotics disturb the normal flora of the gut leading to overgrowth of other bacteria that causes diarrhea.
For children, when we prescribe antibiotics we also give them healthy bacteria that we call probiotics, these healthy bacteria or probiotics keep the normal flora of gut intact thus preventing diarrhea.
Give your child bifilac sachet or binifit sachet once daily for 10 to 14 days and complete the dose of clavam as prescribed by the pediatrician.
