What Causes Light Vaginal Bleeding While On Hormone Birth Control Pills?

My problem is one relating to my periods. I've been getting my period since I was in the 4th grade (I'm 19 now) and they've always been the same: 7 days long, heavy flow, lots of mood swings, and lots of cramps. Two years ago, I started hormonal birth control, which has helped with the mood swings and with keeping me regular, but my flow has still been heavy. About 3 months ago, my period started to get lighter towards the end of the week. Last month, my flow was light but the color and all that was fine so I figured it was just a light month. This month, however, my flow is almost nonexistent. I am barely going through one tampon (or pad) in 15 hours (I never wear one that long, but sometimes the tampon is completely dry when I remove it, so if I had to guess that's how long it would take to completely use one). The color is also concerning because it is a very light brown, almost tan, and the consistency is not very blood-like, but more sticky looking. I am still cramping but not as badly or as often, and I haven't missed a pill in over 6 months. I am 19, sexually active, and very frightened by this experience. I am scheduled to see my regular gynecologist next month, but am considering going sooner. Please give me some idea of what to expect. Thank you.

Hi I think it can be a side effect of the pill. But better to do a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy first. If negative it can be due to some vaginal infection also. Get a pelvic examination done by a gynecologist to rule out any infection. Hope it helps.
