Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doctor. I fell on my leg in basketball and I felt like a pop in it. It has been one day and now I only feel pain if I try to fully extend my leg. I can walk fine but my leg is always bent. I feel no pain except while extending my leg. I m not sure what I should do. The school professional did hi acl tests and I felt no pain. What should I do?
I have studied your case and I think you are having meniscal tear. Meniscus is a cushion like structure and it is needed for knee bending. when there is torn meniscus than it can come in between joint and prevent full extension of the knee joint. I would suggest you to apply ice and take Brufen tablet. If there is still restricted movement than you need to get MRI of the knee joint to confirm the diagnosis. If MRI is showing that you are having meniscus tear than it can be treated with arthroscopic surgery. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
