Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 5 year old son who has recently (two weeks) been complaining about his legs hurting. We have had this issue from time to time but it has never been consistent. This time, the leg (calf) pain has been accompanied by a sore neck as he calls it. Not 100% sure if it is actually his neck or rather his throat. He hasn t ran a fever but hasn t been his usual, giddy, chatty self. Curious to know what it could be. Thank you!
Nutritional deficiency in children can present as leg pain, calf muscle pain and fatigue. Balanced diet with sufficient protein, vitamin and minerals should be given to the child. Add milk and eggs to everyday diet. Calcium syrup and multivitamin syrup can be given 5ml once a day after food. Kindly rule out any history of trauma or fall. Inspect the area for any abrasions or bruising. Touch the area to check whether pain is present. Local application of analgesic gels can be applied in such cases.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
