Hi,

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder is a condition that affects the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement. The exact cause of TMJ disorder is not always clear, but it can be due to several factors such as:
- Trauma or injury to the jaw joint or muscles
- Misalignment of the teeth or jaw
- Teeth grinding or clenching
- Stress and tension lead to muscle tightness
- Arthritis or degenerative joint disease

A left-sided pulling feeling in the lower jaw may be due to muscle tension or misalignment of the jaw joint. This can cause the muscles on one side of the face to work harder, leading to an uneven or asymmetrical jaw movement.

It is important to find a healthcare provider who specializes in treating this specific condition. You may want to consider seeing a dentist who specializes in TMJ disorders, or an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who has experience treating jaw-related conditions.

Treatment options for TMJ disorder may include:
- Jaw exercises and stretching
- Pain medications or muscle relaxants
- Night guards or splints to reduce teeth grinding or clenching
- Dental adjustments to improve the alignment of the teeth or jaw
- Corticosteroid injections that will reduce inflammation and pain
- Surgery in severe cases

It is important to seek professional medical advice for your specific case, as treatment may vary depending on the severity and underlying cause of your TMJ disorder.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
