What Causes Left Sided Pain With Swelling Near Rib Cage?

I am 24 years old and I noticed this afternoon that my left side was hurting. Like my rib cage and right underneath. My boyfriend noticed it was a little swollen and he could feel a knot. I have been trying to lay in bed but it hurts more to lay down flat, when I cough, sometimes to breath, and when I bend over. What could this be?

I really appreciate your concern, such pain of left side of rib cage could be due to some muscular condition and this could be muscular spasm if I would be doctor of this case then I would treat this case with "Tab Chlorzoxazone with Acetaminophen" try to maintain good posture, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
