What Causes Left-sided Pain In The Hip?

I have an achy pain in my left hip, outside where leg and hip join. It appears better after bed rest, lying on my back, but hurts if I lay on my left side. Walking becomes painful when I try to do my daily walk or when I go shopping. Going up steps leading with left leg is all but impossible. Hip feels as though it is about to collapse when I do that.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suspect you may be suffering from osteoarthritis.
You can do an X-ray of the joint or an MRI to see the conditions of the joint. Taking any anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil or Naproxen can help you with everyday tasks. Your doctor also can give oral corticosteroids. The corticosteroid injection can improve joint function.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka ,
