What Causes Large Lump At Lateral Malleolus Area Post Ankle Injury?

I rolled my ankle when landing from a spike in volleyball about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I got it X-rays the next day but no fracture showed. I have been able to walk on it since the injury and don t limp much anymore. My concern is that I still have a large lump at the lateral malleolus. It is quite tender when the back of the malleolus bone is pressed and also about an inch above it along the fibula. I do experience a little pain while walking and even while sleeping in that area and can get sharp pain shooting there or pins and needles there on occasion. I have bruising along the bottom of both sides of my foot, above my ankle on my leg along the fibula and 3 of my toes are completely purple. The top of my foot is also tender to the touch, but the swelling there is mostly down. Should I be concerned of something fractured or just wait it out to let the sprain heal?

After going through your query I cancluded that you got soft tissue injury to your ankle as fracture has already excluded by x ray. Rest to ankle is helpful.Crepe bandage support will be helpful. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Vitamin B and C is helpful in recovery. Subcutaneous hematoma will be gradually resolve itself. You can discuss with your Doctor about it.
