What Causes Lack Of Urination And Bowels In New Born?

Yes please. My son just called. he has a baby that was born in Dec a little over five pounds. Since Monday he hasn t drank anything, peed or any bowels. Was taken to the DR Wed and at that time given pedialite. Its now Saturday with no results. Suggestions?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
You need to consult your paediatrician for clinical assessment of the baby.
The urethral opening and anal opening have to be checked for patency.
A couple of congenital anomalies can cause imperforate anal opening and closed urethral opening.
The baby should feed after birth however if the baby is not feeding he needs to be clinically assessed.
Thus do not delay and consult your paediatrician for prompt action.
