What Causes Lack Of Symptoms After Taking 16 Aspirins And Alcohol?
we have some one who has taken 16 aspirin this evening with large quantity of alcohol but who is concious and not showing other signs of distress. Should we be calling for amulance or 111 even though she does not want any medical help and insists she is fine? She is 18 years old about 53kgs and 5 6

PLEASE DO NOT NEGLECT IT EVEN THOUGH SHE IS STABLE AT PRESENT. THE 16 ASPIRINS WHICH SHE HAS TAKEN WILL REMAIN IN STOMACH FOR 3-6 HOURS, AND THEN THERE MAY BE CHANCES OF SUDDEN OR ERRATIC ABSORPTION . EVEN IF THESE TABLETS REMAIN IN STOMACH, THESE CAN ACT AS GASTRIC IRRITANTS AND CAUSE BLEEDING TENDENCY, GASTRITIS AND ULCERS.IF ABSORBED INTO THE CIRCULATION, THESE CAN THIN THE BLOOD AND INCREASE CHANCES OF INTERNAL BLEEDING/HEMORRHAGE. IT CAN BE DANGEROUS.
AT LEAST LET THE ER DOCTORS DO A STOMACH WASH. IT IS ALSO DESIRABLE TO GET BLEEDING TIME(BT), CLOTTING TIME(CT) AND PROTHROMBIN TIME(PT) DONE. OBSERVATION AT LEAST FOR 48 HOURS IS NEEDED.
ALSO ITS IMPORTANT TO FIND OUT WHY SHE HAS TAKEN 16 ASPIRINS....WHETHER IMPULSIVELY OR UNDER INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR INTENTIONALLY

the patient may be admitted for observation. a doctor's consultation, preferably a psychiatrist, is best for the patient. the symptoms may be delay in occurrence or the patient might not have any, but she must be advised by a professional on things to watch out for and what to do in case the symptoms appear. professional counseling of the patient and the immediate support of the patient must also be done. other diagnostics (blood examinations) and management will be directed accordingly.
