What Causes Lack Of Pressure To Empty The Bladder Completely?

My boyfriend is having trouble urinating, he feels like he doesnt have much pressure behind it. When he finishes urinating he feels like he still has urine trapped in the head of his penis, but when he trys to pee again nothing comes out. Im just wondering what would be the cause of this, and how can we fix it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your boyfriend and understood your concerns.

You are saying that he is having:
- trouble urinating
- feeling he can't have enough pressure behind it
- feeling urine trapped in the head of penis after finishing urinating

All these symptoms are indicative for possible urinary tract infection (UTI). I highly recommend to run:
-urine analysis
-urine culture and sensitivity testing
in order to determine the type of infection and right antibiotic to use.

For the moment, I advise to:
- drink plenty of water
- take OTC urine alkalinizers (magnesium citrate)
- take cranberry/uva ursi supplements

Wish fast recovery!
