What Causes Lack Of Menstrual Bleeding When Endometrial Thickness Is 12mm?

I am 57, have not had a period in 5 years. I m 5 8 , 140 lbs. My endometrial thickness is 12mm but I have no bleeding. I ve never had hormone therapy and have had 2 healthy pregnancies. Is it necessary to have a biopsy? Can it be treated with hormones and monitored instead?

Hello,

Menopause has irregularities in hormone contents. This imbalance, if continuous high levels, endometrial thickening can happen. Sudden fall of hormones can lead to profuse bleeding.

Anyway, you do not have bleeding for the last 5 years & endimetrium is thickened, in such a case you should go for investigations like hormone assessment, endometrial biopsy as per need to exclude any other serious cause. Consult your gynecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
