What Causes Lack Of Coordination With Different Parts Of Body?

Can cervical disc surgery with fusion and insertion of cadaver material, which resulted in immediate, complete relief of pain symptoms in shoulders and right arm then be causally connected with the onset of carpal tunnel-like symptoms (no pain, just weakness, inability to grasp, & lack of coordination) bilaterally in hands and arms three days after surgery? The neurosurgeon says, "It's not something I did. It sounds like carpal tunnel." He has ordered emg. ncs bilateral. What could be the cause of such a strange coincidence with no history of cs? 69 year old female.
