What Causes Lack Of Appetite And Vomiting After Giving Calcirol To Child?

My son (3.5 yrs old) hv fracture in great toe, Dr.suggested to take Calcirol 1g sachet (Cholecalciferol granules 60000 iu/gm) yesterday he took it with milk, after some time (from evening ) he stopped to eat anything, & from today morning he started vomiting.hz suffering from stumach ache also. Is it a side effect...??

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lack of appetite and vomiting after giving Calcirol to child which seems to due to gastrointestinal disturbances and it could be due to acute gastritis. It could also occur due to side effects of certain medicine or supplement like calcirol. I would suggest you to take antiemetic like domperidone and ranitidine for gastritis. You should take plenty of fluids. Visit pediatrician once and get it examined. Take diet rich in fibrous food and green leafy vegetables.You should take oral rehydration syrup as well. You should take Ibuprofen for fever. If you will feel severe symptoms of vomiting you should go to hospital and get antiemetic injection and intravenous fluids after proper consultation.
