What Causes Kidney Stones?

I have a history of kidney stones. Currently experiencing pain in back, chest, abdomen and right side generally. ER visit a week ago showed no heart problem. Visit to walk in clinic this week shoes some possible lung abnormality. Follow up X-ray w/contrast to be performed Tuesday. No trouble breathing. Movement can be sharply painful. Another stone possible?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Based on the facts that you have posted you seem to have been detected to have stone in the kidney and have the previous history of kidney stone fragmented by ESWL.

The modality of treatment for kidney stone is decided and depends upon the following factors:

1) Size of the stone
2) Site (Location of stone)
3) Effect of the stone on kidney function
4) Status of kidney function as determined by Renal Function Tests
5) Severity of symptoms

I shall be happy if you can post me more details to help me in making precise comments:

1) Have you consulted any Urologist?
2) Have you undergone relevant tests like

a)Ultrasound Scanning of the abdomen , X-Ray of abdomen
b)Urine routine and culture examination
c) Blood tests to asses kidney function
d) Intra Venous Pyelography

3) Please upload reports of these tests so as to make me precise comments and suggest the line of treatment. Expecting your detail feedback.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
