What Causes Joint Stiffening And Pain In Heels In The Mornings?

I am 61 and consider myself very fit. I do not take any medications. Recently my joints have started to stiffen and now my right heel has developed pins and needles. I only notice it when I put my foot on the floor when I get out of bed in the mornings or when I get up after sitting.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
you have asked about two conditions. First about stiffening of joints. This can happen as joint cartilage become weak. Are you living in cold climate,as cold causes stiffness too. I would advice you to start taking calcium and vitamin D3 as regularly.
Your heel pain is because of planter fasciitis. This condition causes pain in heel. My advice about this is avoid walking barefoot at home. Wear soft foot wear. Wash your feet with warm water twice in day. Steroid injection at heel can be usedif pain is very much.
