What Causes Joint Pain In The Hands After Blood Transfusion During Delivery?

My daughter 34 yo, gave birth a month ago. During her delivery she had to get blood transfusion. Ever since her delivery she has been experiencing joint pain in hands, and now it has travelled to her elbow, knees and ankles. It was so bad today, she had to put ace bandages on wrists, and still she could not pick or hold her newborn son. She is on way to doctor now. but I was wondering is there anything that she can tell her doctor to test for based on those symptoms? Psoriatic arthritis runs in her family (she has 4 step brothers and sisters) as well as fibromyalgia.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think this situation is not much related to a blood transfusion she did during giving birth. It may be related to arthritis as well as fibromyalgia. She may need to get tested for arthritis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
