What Causes Joint Aches While Suffering From Fever?

I have had a flu-like virus that started last Thursday with aching joints in my hands. While the fever and vomiting and other symptoms are mostly gone, the aching in my hands remains. I have noticed it while grading papers and things today when I really thought I was feeling better. Is this still part of the virus?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, symptoms are due to acute viral infection.

I advise to:
- Take plenty of fluids to keep well hydrated with oral rehydration salt
- Take oral and local analgesic you find over the counter
- Take pro-biotics to stabilize intestinal flora

If symptoms will persist, consult further with your primary as might need further diagnostic tests to rule out other infectious disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
