Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
How is he growing and developing? How old was he when he began to have jerky movements? It is possible that he could have absence seizures. How frequently does he have seizures? If you cannot locate a pediatric neurologist in your community, go to the closest university medical school hospital where the subspecialist will be either in the department of neurology or in the department of pediatrics). Part of the evaluation will include an electroencephalogram, which will enable the neurologist to study his brain waves. Then the doctor will be in a much better position to talk with you about the medication and prognosis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
