What Causes Itchy Welts And Bruises On My Calf?

i woke up a few days ago to itchy welts on my calf...about 2 inches long and less that a 1/4 inch wide. i ve been applying over the counter hydrocortisone cream to them. I noticed tonight that they are very bruised, including an area that began itching this afternoon on the opposite calf. Both calves are very bruised.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi

You seem to have developed an allergic skin reaction .
Since you have been applying hydrocortisone without much relief ,you might need to be treated with oral antihistamines and oral steroids .
You can continue application of cortisone cream .
See a nearby dermatologist for proper assessment and further treatment.
Do not apply any other cream or oil over the affected area.
