What Causes Itchy Rashes On The Back And Neck Despite Using Hydrocortisone Cream?
I have a rash on the back of my neck that itches. I think its excema. What is scabies? Also, I ve tried hydrocortisone cream, CeraVe cream, and switching to non-soap products. It will not go away. It is also on my elbows and armpits, although it in not scabbing like my neck. I have a VERY stressful job and I ve heard stress can bring this on. I have not had skin issues in the past except a nickel allergy and I had hives once as a teenager.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of itching on back, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like Mometasone cream on the lesions.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid, Hydroxyzine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks.
