What Causes Itchy And Red Welt On Buttocks?

I have red welt like areas that appear on my buttocks. They feel like bug bites last a few days and reappear elsewhere only on the buttocks. They itch and are tender upon touch but don t fit the clinical signs and symptoms of herpes. I do feel they are worse at times of stress, heat and when I am menstruating or pregnant. Any ideas?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Is it present on both buttocks? What is the approximate size and shape? Any oozing or peeling of overlying skin? Can you share a picture? This may be an urticaria or contact dermatitis (as in toilet seat dermatitis). If confirmed, urticaria will respond to a short course of antihistamine, while contact dermatitis will respond to topical steroids. Kindly consult a dermatologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
