What Causes Itching Sensation In The Vaginal Area Post Menstruation?

recently I ve gotten an itch around my vulva and vagina that started after my last period. with this, also came clumpy, but clear discharge. I started taking yeast infection medication which helped the itch go away, but it would usually come at night. the skin down there is also dry and painful to wipe, a lot of skin had been peeling down there. I also just started my period today, which is odd because my periods are 3/ 3 1/2 weeks apart, and this period is 18 days apart. I need answers because I can t get to a doctor. I m 16 years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The itching would cause the area to be painful to wipe because it would cause superficial excoriations.

Physical conditions(like illness) or emotional illness can affect the frequency of a period.

The yeast infection is likely not completely resolved and additional medication may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
