What Causes Itching Of Scalp And Headache?

Hi I am Ipsit.My mom is 48. She is complaining of itching of scalp continuously for 5 days. And mild headache of the normaverticalis and neck for past 3 months. She also has a loss of appetite. She is under medication for depression and osteoarthritis(Tendomac for last 1 month, Nexito plus for past 2 months, Nexito fort for 8 months before nexito plus). Has Hypotension. No history of diabetes. Not attained menopause. Any probable diagnosis for the scalp itching and headache?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itching of scalp and headache on the scalp which seems to be due to fungal infection, hair follicle infection or Folliculitis, Impetigo, contact dermatitis, side effects of any medications or allergies to certain shampoos or hair cosmetics.

The symptoms like headache as you mention in query can occur due to migraine , cluster headache or high blood pressure . you need to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Blood tests and microscopic examination of the scraping from the scalp can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for headache .As of now you can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Benadryl to relieve itching. In case of fungal infection antifungal shampoos along with steroid lotion massage can relieve. In case of Folliculitis or Impetigo, antibiotic ointments and oral antibiotics can be advised. Anti allergics like Levocetrizine and steroid lotions along with avoiding the irritant use can relieve allergies.
