What Causes Itching And Pain In The Scrotum?

I spent about 4 hours one night in my friends hot tub. Not the cleanest hot tub, it was pretty cloudy in it. After about 3 hours in it my scrotum and penis started to get very uncomfortable to the point where i had to get out and leave. The day after my legs were so dry that they hurt too. For the past few days my scrotum has had a dark streak about 1.5 long and .5 wide. It feels itchy and sometimes painful if moved around too much. My scrotum feels dry and shriveled up. My penis is very dry too. Does NOT hurt when I pee. I decided to go to the Dr. today and he prescribed me Cephalexin for 10 days. He also took a swab of the area and sent it in to get cultured for herpes testing. He s not sure what it is. I won t hear back about the test until atleast Monday and I m freaking out.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Well, let the tests run its course. Continue your cephalexin for 10 days. It could be an infection, possibly bacterial, but it can also be something like herpes. Keep your scrotum and penis clean and dry. You can take cetrizine if it's itching too much.
Thank you.
