What Causes Itching And Oozing From Stitch On The Left Side Of Abdomen ?
About four months ago I had surgery that left three scars on my abdomen... the right two never bother me but the left itches on occasion and this evening I absently scratched it and something like hard pus came out... I grabbed tweezers and tried to pull the rest out but I had to squeeze the area around for any success. Eventually this material lessened and stopped altogether and there s barely a spot of blood... I m worried about what this is or could be???? Could it be a fluke/random occurance or should I make a call to the hospital?
Hello, In your case I would like to say it in the very beginning that visiting your surgeon or the hospital is must as it is always better to be sure 100% in surgical cases. I would say that possibly you might either removed the healing layer over the wound or having a post op incision site infection. This could have been due to several factors and the substance you've drained is highly likely to be pus. When you visit the hospital your doctor would again drain the wound, send sample to the lab for culture and apply a dressing again with some increased dose or another class of antibiotic. In
