What Causes Itching And Burning Sensation On The Arm?
It has been very hot here and I am a senior who is not used to the heat. I have be having an itchcy arm and sometimes a burning sensation. It is so bad at night I was not able to sleep. My arm gets very red and the more I scratch the more it itches. No hives or visible sores. Worse than poison oak.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itching and burning sensation on the arm which seems to be due to seasonal allergy, contact dermatitis and due to hormonal changes.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to clean your skin by washing with cold water and mild soap and stay in moist environment. You should avoid sun exposure and take antihistamine twice a day . Do not scratch your skin as it can lead to secondary infection , rather apply cold compresses to skin to reduce irritation . If condition doesn't get improve or get worse then consult allergy specialist for proper examination . Doctor will take history and try to find out the trigger factor. Doctor may order allergy test and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
